If anyone knows Dave Allan from the Scottish Herald , I would indeed like to shake his hand and give him a hug! He wrote a very informative and interesting article in August 2021 about what I would re-title ‘Sheep wool – the gardener’s friend’.
It was a shout out to gardeners, to think about diversifying and using sustainable and versatile sheep wool to solve problems in the garden.
Dave Allan is definitely singing off the same song sheet as myself re Sheep Wool and its attributes in the garden.

The National Vegetable Society Southern Branch AGM in March 2020 was held in Ashurst village hall West Sussex just prior to the first lockdown. It gave me my first opportunity to talk face to face to established gardeners about the attributes of sheep wool in the garden.I had time to get some tips about Dahlia growing and storage over a cup of tea after. I was chuffed to feature in the following article on page 35 of theNVS Society magazine

Open in new tab I was asked by Sussex Green Living to write a blog post on Wool and Environmentally friendly gardening in August 2019.
This request coincided with a timely article on the ITV Tonight program about the plight of peat bogs and the detrimental effect it was having on the environment.
Danny Clarke (a TV celebrity Gardener) recommended a number of alternatives instead of peat, which included sheep wool for its water retention qualities for pot and container growing.
