It’s February 2026 and it seems to have been perpetually raining since the start of the year. If you have pets and livestock I think we’re all pretty fed up with paddling in mud. It’s all a tad grey and glum. However, in between rain showers and downpours I have started to sow seeds in seed snails using WOOL SHrED Garden Felt and Twine. I’ve planted up some spring colour popping primulas in a manger, kokadema and an old rustic basket using WOOL SHrED as a liner.

Along with some tentative seed sewing and planting, this month sees the start of chats to Horticultural Societies and Gardening groups.

I was giving a chat to a group of approximately 35 keen gardeners in West Sussex the other evening when I asked them whether they had heard of specific wool horticultural products for gardeners. To my dismay not many knew about a number of sustainable eco friendly wool Horticultural products that are available o gardeners and allotment growers. My initial dismay was allayed when a good few of the group a walked away from the village hall with WOOL SHrED products to experiment with this growing season. That’s why I love chatting all things wool and gardening. I know us gardeners like to experiment, particularly if it involves us NOT using chemicals and plastic.

I’m looking forward to giving another chat in a couple of weeks time to another group of keen gardeners. In the meantime my seed snails are happily sat on the windowsill in the warmth of the house until the inclement weather passes and the primulas are giving a pop of colour in the garden whilst being happily watered. Spring is coming.
